The main thoroughfare in the Old Town is Tran Phu. Just south of the Old Town, across the Thu Bon River, are the islands of An Hoi to the west, reachable via Hai Ba Trung, and Cam Nam to the east, reachable via Hoang Dieu.
Hoi An, once known as Faifo, was a major international port in the 16th and 17th centuries, and the foreign influences are discernible to this day. While the serious shipping business has long since moved to Da Nang, the heart of the city is still the Old Town, full of winding lanes and Chinese-styled shophouses, which is particularly atmospheric in the evening as the sun goes down. While almost all shops now cater to the tourist trade, the area has been largely preserved as is, which is unusual in Vietnam, and renovation has proceeded slowly and carefully – it’s mercifully absent of towering concrete blocks and karaoke parlors. . Hoi An Beach – Wonderful beach in the world

An Bang Beach rates among world top 50
An Bang Beach, 3km east of central Hoi An, Quang Nam Province, was ranked 43rd among a list of 50 outstanding beaches by website www.cnngo.com.
The website described it as having “gentle waves and soft white sand.”
“Recently, it’s picked up speed among expat tourists, which explains the Western-managed bars and restaurants along the waterfront. The bars are a great spot to mingle, but if you’re in a solitary mood, walk away from the main stretch and you’ll feel like you have the place to yourself,” it added.
The pure and pristine 4km beach is a destination to welcome local and international tourists to Hoi An.
Le Van Giang, chairman of the Hoi An People’s Committee, said that tourism infrastructure would be continually developed to attract more visitors.
Top 40 of Vietnamese Dishes with Hoi An food

CNN was voted for 40 delicious dishes, Hoi An food has one. Congratulation!
Vietnamese cuisine doesn’t win any points for complexity. Many of the most popular dishes can be made just as well on the side of the road as in a top-end restaurant.
But it’s precisely this simplicity, the subtle variations by region and the fresh ingredients that keep us pulling up a plastic stool for more.
